Why are blogs good, and why not?

Blogs are good because:

  • They are free.
  • They are a very good tool for the school.
  • They are very easy to use and to create.

But they are bad because:

  • The chid can insult or put personal things (in personal blogs).
  • They can write with no quality things.
  • Sometimes is a hassle to think about the comment that you will post and you have no time to do it.
  • You can see inapropiate things.

Types of blogs

There are the different types of blogs and an example for each one:

  • Personal blogs: http://www.my-thai-friend.com/ - This blog is about an English man that lives in Thailand, and talks about its culture, lifestyle...
  • Business: http://sustainablebusinessdesign.blogspot.com/ - This blog is about ways to make bussines more sustainable.
  • Schools: http://www.espriunews.blogspot.com/ - The blog of our credit =)
  • Private: There are a lot of private blogs, and we can't search for one in special, because in all of these blogs the content is invisible. The owner of the blog is who decides about it.
  • Sports: http://blogs.swarthmore.edu/athletics/ - This blog is about the news in the athletics world.
  • How-to, tips and reviews: http://www.buildabetterblog.com/ - This blog helps the owners of a bussines blog, there are rankings, information...

How is the perfect blogger?

The perfect blogger:

  • Defines his goals: the blogger has to know what he wants to post in his blog.
  • Knows his audience: he has to post things according to the interests of his audience.
  • Is consistent: he posts always about the same things.
  • Is persisntent: the blogger has to post frequently to be percieved as a static webpage.
  • Is inviting: he has to welcome new bloggers and invite them to read his blog.
  • Is visible: he gets in touch with other bloggers and then the other bloggers will visit his blog.
  • Takes risks: the blogger has to try new tools, gadgets... to improve his blog.
  • Asks for help: if he doesn't know something, he asks other bloggers.
  • Keeps learning: as he develops his blog, he learns new things.
  • Is himself/herself: the blogger expresses his opinions, not the opinions of others.
